Using Piriform CCleaner

How about giving your PC or laptop a spring-clean? If you’ve had your computer
for several years you might have noticed that its performance is becoming
sluggish. Our U3A Office computer used to take 20-30 minutes to wake up –
very annoying – but now it’s working a lot better after the clean-up with
Piriform CCleaner.

To download Piriform CCleaner

Do a Google search for Piriform CCleaner

... or click on this link to it … http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER

Click on the green button “Download”

Under the column "CCleaner ~ Free",
select the link labelled as “Download from Piriform”

If you’re using Internet Explorer 8, your download will be blocked by IE8
until you give permission to proceed … click on the extra top toolbar that
has just appeared to give your permission.

Similarly, in Google Chrome, look at the bottom of your webpage, where GC
asks if you wish to continue … click on “Save”.

You will then go through various screens, including one inviting you to try
out the Google Chrome web browser (I suggest you try it out, to see if you
like it). Also towards the end of the download, CCleaner will ask you if
you’d like it to save your special cookies (for your email accounts and
most visited websites) … accept this.

When the download is finished you will be presented with the CCleaner
interface. Just click on “Run cleaner” to spring-clean your computer.

All the rubbish you’ve accumulated over the years, (all sorts of temporary
files i.e. clutter, and anything in your Recycle Bin) will disappear.
After the clean-up you should notice a huge improvement in the performance
of your computer.

I’ve cleared 1-3 gigabytes of rubbish from each one of several computers I
use, with remarkable results. I now use CCleaner several times a week, to
de-clutter, and recommend its use to you.
