Having problems with your new computer keyboard?

One of our members asked me for advice recently about
a problem he was having with his new computer keyboard.
When he typed the @ (at) symbol, he got the quotation
marks instead.

I've since read an article in The Times, presented by
Comet's Computer Care Service, which gave some very
helpful advice on this (for Windows XP users).

The problem arises from the computer being set up for
the US keyboard layout, which is different from our UK
one.

To correct this, if you have a similar problem, is as
follows ....

Select Start > Control Panel > Date, Time, Language &
Regional Options.

Select English (United Kingdom) in both the standard and
locations drop down menus.

Select Languages at the top of the menu, and then Details.
Select English (United Kingdom) in the drop down menu.

(You might have to use the Add button, to add UK to the options).

The Comet site gives some useful tips on IT matters (including
links to other helpful websites).
