How about using Re-writable CD-Roms?
At our last Computer Club meeting, one of our members asked about
using CD-RWs.
I've done a Google search on this, and have found this interesting article
on Wikipedia (click).
Generally, I recommended using ordinary CD-Roms for data back-up,
rather than the re-writable ones. They are fairly cheap to buy, and as the
Wikipeida article suggests they are likely to last longer. Buy audio CD-Roms
for recording music on. One of my daughters has given me a CD-RW with
music on it for Father's Day -- it plays OK in our laptop, but it won't play at
all on our hi-fi-CD player.
For temporary storage of photos and documents, I'd recommend using a
flash drive/pen, which are easy to use and to re-use.
