Creating a new shortcut on your Desktop.
We will all have a Desktop shortcut to our favourite internet browser,
such as to Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Most
of us will also have the opening (home) page set to Google, for faster
internet exploring.
Well how about creating an extra shortcut to one of the usual places
you visit ... such as a login page for an email site such as Hotmail,
Yahoo or Gmail, or to the BBC's weather page for Nottingham?
It's surprisingly easy to set up a shortcut ... have a look at this
webpage I found on a Google search ....
http://www.gnc-web-creations.com/shortcut.htm
In the list of instructions, it tells you to enter the website address
(the URL) for the destination of your shortcut. To find and copy this,
find the webpage you want with a Google search, click in the white space
just past the address in the URL box at the top of the webpage, and
press the keys: Ctrl and the letter C to copy it. You can now use the
keys: Ctrl and the letter V, to paste the website address anywhere you
like.
For example, I've found and copied the URL for the BBC's weather page for
Nottingham, and have pasted it here ...
