How do I ....?
Someone phoned me the other day (who wasn't a U3A member),
and asked me for advice about re-writable CD-Roms ... he'd
found that he couldn't re-write over the ones he'd bought.
My usual advice is just to buy an ordinary brand of CD-Rom,
and to use them only once. Do a back-up every month or so
of all the new stuff you've put on your computer. Also think
about giving a friend or relative a copy/copies of your most
treasured stuff, in case you have a house fire.
And talking of ordinary types of CD-Rom, I spotted in Tesco
yesterday, that they sell stacks of them at a cost of 16p each
... so why bother using re-writables?
