A few tips for first-timers
1. Use the Tab key on your keyboard to hop from one box to another
on a registration form
2. Enter your debit or credit card numbers when requested, without
a break in the numbers
3. To copy the text on a web page ….
… click at the very end of the text on the web page, and then
slowly drag your mouse upwards and gradually across to your
left, to highlight all the text in blue.
Now, to copy, either do a right mouse click on the blue text and
select copy ... or press down the Control key and the
letter C together
Hit the minus sign at the top right corner of your web page,
to shrink it down.
Get up a Word Document.
To paste the text onto this document …
right mouse click > paste, or Ctrl + V.
File > Save As , to save your document.

4. To copy a photo on a web page
You might be able to enlarge the photo by clicking on it
(the enlargement would be of better quality).
Right mouse click on the photo > “Save Picture As” …
then chose where to save your photo on your computer
(usually in My Pictures), and rename it if you wish.
5. I usually use Google to find a retail site.
6. Always go onto a main website such as PayPal yourself …
never use an email link, as you may be sent to a bogus site.
Criminals will send emails to you asking you to update your
account details with PayPal, eBay, and various banks, which
look just like the real thing.

As regards returning defective items to Amazon, after the
30 day returns guarantee period, you may have problems finding
out a phone number and address to return the item to. Please
contact JH, if you do.

7. How do you remember all the passwords to all the sites you
register with (as you shouldn’t use the same one for all your
sites)? I write them down encrypted on a sheet of paper (and
also put them onto an Excel spreadsheet, which I back up from
time to time on a CD-Rom).

In two weeks time, I will be doing more stuff with digital
photos, eg putting your photos onto Flickr and using the Jessops
online printing service.
