Getting started with Blogging
What's it all about?

Mavis asked me earlier today, how she could get going with
blogging / gain access to this site?

There are various ways of getting started -- Blogger is the
simplest one to set up. Blogger was recently taken over by
Google. It's free to use, and thanks to the boffins at Google,
it's now more user-friendly.

Here's a link to the main page of Blogger.

Click on the blue highlighted writing: "Take a quick tour",
and follow the orange "Continue" signs, which will give you
some idea what blogging is all about. You can join the
blogging community and leave comments on other people's
sites, which is the way to get others to have a look at
yours.

Blogger will give you some basic designs to chose from, but
with time (and as you get more adventurous) you can customise
the design to suit your taste -- which for me is part of the
fun.

As for accessing the Nottm U3A blogsite, you can leave comments
on this site, but you can't alter the content ... I can add
material to put up on the site if you were to email me some,
and I can also edit my past contributions, if you were to find
anything that you think is inaccurate or offensive.

I will be talking about all this at a future Computer Club
session, and will give you some pointers about how to personalise
the web design. It's free, so why not have some fun and use it?
